Accountant General, Arunachal
Pradesh functions under the Comptroller & Auditor General of India
(C&AG) who is the Head of the Indian Audit & Accounts Department.
The Comptroller & Auditor General of India is a Constitutional
Authority appointed by the warrant of the President of India. His
functions derived mainly from the provisions of Article-149 to 151 of the
Constitution of India.

Arunachal Pradesh attained
statehood on 20th
February, 1987. The Office of the Accountant General, Arunachal
Pradesh started functioning from 2006. The audit functions started being
discharged at Itanagar from June, 2008 onwards from rented premises in E
Sector. The work related to computerized compilation of State Government
Accounts (known as VLC Voucher Level Compilation) started functioning from
the same premises from June, 2009.
The new office building is being constructed at Mowb II in Itanagar.
