Senior Deputy Accountant General (AMG-I & III)

Benjamin Karunakaran is an Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS) Officer of the Batch of 2012. He is currently the Senior Deputy Accountant General (AMG-I and AMG- III) in the office of the Accountant General (Audit), Meghalaya and joined station on the 17th of October 2019. Prior to the current assignment, he has served as Deputy Accountant General (Audit) in the Office of AG (Audit), Nagaland and as Deputy Accountant General (Audit), Pondicherry. He holds an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Anna University, Chennai and a postgraduate degree in Public Financial Management (PFM) from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, where he was a Chevening Scholar. Before passing the Indian Civil Services Examination in 2012, he worked as an engineer in Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Limited and the Central PSU enterprise Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).

He is an avid classical music enthusiast and has completed Grade 8 in classical guitar from the Trinity College of Music, London. He has been a former member of the Madras Guitar Ensemble between 2010 and 2014.
