The CAG Audit Office in Mumbai, headed by the Principal Director of Audit (Oil and Gas), is responsible for auditing various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Autonomous Bodies, Statutory Corporations and other organisations under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG).
The major Government companies under its audit jurisdiction include ONGC, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), GAIL (India) Limited, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL), ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL), and Engineers India Limited (EIL).
Through its audit work, the Office contributes to ensuring financial discipline, transparency, accountability and efficiency in the use of public resources, thereby supporting better management of the petroleum and natural gas sector.
